Damage after running into a hole.

I ran into a hole a few days ago and a part of the car broke. It was on by passenger's side. The car turns completely to the right every time I try to turn the stearing wheel to the side.
My car has an automatic transmission.
Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
You have probably damaged a tie rod. The tie rods are the link between the wheels and the steering rack. There is also a possibility that you have damaged a lower control arm or a strut depending on how hard you hit it. You need to have the steering components inspected before anyone can give you any kind of useful estimate. You can have this done at your home or office by contacting Your Mechanic. They can send you a technician to check out your steering problem and tell you what it will take to fix the damage.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced mechanics :

A failing or dirty sensor can send incorrect data, resulting in too much or too little fuel going to the engine. This can result in a rough running engine that is louder than normal. Bad or Dirty Spark Plugs: Bad spark plugs can cause the vehicle to misfire which will make it run louder.
The average cost for a BMW 328i Engine Oil Pan Replacement is between $1,519 and $1,686. Labor costs are estimated between $637 and $804 while parts are priced between $882 and $882.
The fuel pump relay is located in or on the engine cowl. It may be on the passenger side beneath the air intake. Orange is a common color used by BMW for the fuel pump relay housing.
An engine that is suddenly running louder than normal is usually crying for help. In the majority of cases an underlying problem is causing the engine to rumble. Problems can range from something simple like dirty spark plugs to the more serious failing muffler or catalytic converter.
Common Locations for Leaks

A few frequent regions for leaks are the oil pan gasket, the valve cover gasket, the alternator bracket seal, the timing cover gasket, and the oil filter housing gasket. The oil pan gasket allows easy access for engine repairs, and usually leaks when oil hasn`t been changed frequently.

The most common reasons a BMW 328i is leaking oil are oil system component failure and leaking engine gaskets.
If the fuel pump relay fails the fuel pump will be left without power. The engine may still crank when the key is turned, however it will not be able to start due to lack of fuel. This symptom can also be caused by a wide variety of other issues, so having the vehicle properly diagnosed is highly recommended.
The fuel pump should make a whirring sound when the ignition is turned on in the ignition lock, however there is no sound coming from the fuel pump. This indicates that the fuel pump began increasing the fuel rail`s fuel pressure. If you are unable to hear this, the fuel pump relay may be malfunctioning.
Broken mufflers can produce extremely loud noises that disrupt other drivers, which can lead to accidents and other dangerous situations. Plus, vehicle noise pollution is also hazardous to the health of humans, causing increased risk of hearing loss, heart disease, and sleep disturbance.
The intake system may not be sealing properly or your exhaust is leaking. The engine would have to be checked and diagnosed by a mechanic. I recommend you have a mechanic, like ones from YourMechanic, to come by and inspect your car for any possible leak issues relating to the whooshing noise.
Definitions of whirring. sound of something in rapid motion. synonyms: birr, whir, whirr. type of: sound. the sudden occurrence of an audible event.
Oil leaks occur more frequently on vehicles with over 60,000 miles. A common cause of BMW oil leaks is the valve cover gaskets. The oil pan gasket is also a likely cause of a BMW oil leak and will require removal of the front suspension in order to be replaced.
Overheating. Overheating is a sign that your oil is leaking. An overheated BMW is an obvious sign as the smell of burning oil or a smoking car, however, overheating is an indication your vehicle is leaking oil.
In addition to their environmental impacts, oil leaks can lead to major damage to your vehicle`s engine, as well as to its radiator and HVAC system. Accumulated oil can degrade the rubber hoses and seals used in these components and cause them to wear out prematurely. Oil leaks are also a fire and safety hazard.
And long drives or excessive acceleration in cold conditions can strain the gaskets, seals, and other engine components, reducing their durability and causing oil leakage.
Leaking Oil Filter

The filter is one of the most common causes of an oil leak. Ideally, the oil filter should be replaced with every oil change. If you change your oil at home, you may forget this important step or the new filter may not be installed properly.

A faulty fuel pump can cause all kinds of engine problems. This is because the fuel pump is responsible for the fuel delivery from the tank to the engine. The average lifespan of a fuel pump is 100,000 miles; most pumps last longer than that.
Can a fuel pump go out without warning? Absolutely! A car fuel pump will fail without warning more often than you may think. All things related to a car fuel pumps like the injectors, the pressure regulator, and the car fuel pump itself are the part that are most replaced with the fuel system.
Fuel pump failures tend to be sudden and unpredictable, with few symptoms to warn the motorist that trouble is brewing. And the higher the mileage on the vehicle, the greater the risk of a fuel pump failure.
Car suddenly stalls while operating: One of the most common symptoms of a failed ignition relay is a car that suddenly stalls while operating. If the ignition relay shorts, burns out, or otherwise fails while the engine is operating it will cut off power to the fuel pump and ignition system.
Most cars should idle between 600 RPM and 1,000 RPM. Cars that idle below 600 RPM or above 1,000 RPM may have a mechanical issue that you need to address. Additionally, if the RPM jumps around when idling, this also may be a sign of a bigger problem.
The idle speed should feel consistent without skipping or slipping. In most of today`s cars, an idle speed of 600 to 1000 RPMs is average. If your car is idling rough, though, it won`t feel smooth. The RPMs will jump up and down, for example, or they`ll fall below 600 RPM (or whatever is typical for your vehicle).
Bad Sensors

One common culprit for this problem is the crankshaft position sensor, which measures the position and speed of the crankshaft. The computer uses the information from this sensor to know when to fire the spark plugs. If the sensor isn`t working, the spark plugs won`t fire, keeping the engine from starting.

Vehicle started running rough while driving. Now running/idling rough running rich.
ANSWER : Hello. From the symptoms you describe, it would appear that your vehicle is having issues with the oxygen sensors. P0172 is the code for bank 1 being too rich. This can be caused by a wide variety of issues. The other two codes are for the sensors on bank 2, having excessively high voltage.

This may be due to the rich condition, faulty oxygen sensors, or faulty wiring. The black smoke and soot is a result of excessive fuel that is not being properly burned, and exiting the tailpipe as smoke. A few common causes for these symptoms are a bad fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, or engine management sensor. As engine management systems can sometimes be difficult to diagnose, I would recommend having the rough idling issue inspected by a professional technician.

01 mustang v6 running rough at idle and drive. Please help. Replaced a bunch, still can’t figure out issue.
ANSWER : This may be a sign of a faulty MAP sensor as the vehicle responds adversely to a load put on the motor (i.e. putting it in gear, turning on AC or engaging the brakes). The Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor senses engine load and generates a signal that is proportional to the amount of vacuum in the intake manifold. The engine computer then uses this information to adjust ignition timing and fuel enrichment. When the engine is working hard, intake vacuum drops as the throttle opens wide. The engine takes in more air, which requires more fuel to keep the air/fuel ratio in balance. When the computer reads a heavy load signal from the MAP sensor, it adjusts the fuel mixture to slightly more rich than normal so the engine can produce more power. The computer will then retard (back off) ignition timing slightly to prevent detonation that can damage the engine and decrease performance. This may also be caused by other closely related components such as a dirty or failing mass air-flow sensor, a faulty throttle position sensor or potentially a vacuum leak. I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your location to diagnose and inspect your vehicle.

Runs fine for days then acts like running out of gas and then dies and try restart and runs then dies ,when I turn key on you hea
ANSWER : The fuel pump in the fuel tank is designed to have low pressure and high volume to feed the front fuel pump the right amount fuel. The front fuel pump supplies the engine with high pressure to the engine.

When you do not hear the pump run then the fuel pump is bad and should be replaced along with the relay. You should not have to replace the in tank pump if it is running. I’d suggest replacing the fuel filter as well.

I’d suggest getting this inspected by a qualified technician, such as one from YourMechanic, to diagnose your stalling issue and make the necessary repairs.

My engine coolant light is coming on and after hitting a pot hole my thermostat light pops on, and after a few miles car run hot
ANSWER : Hi there. It is quite possible that you may have damaged the radiator when hitting the pot hole. Although there are protective shields located under the radiator itself, they are typically very thin and made of plastic in most cases. Sometimes the quick impact can cause cracking along the base of the radiator. When this happens, coolant will leak rather quickly. I would recommend two things, first, stop driving the vehicle until this issue is repaired. Second, contact a professional mobile mechanic to complete a coolant leak inspection so they can pinpoint precisely what is causing the leak and what repairs will be needed. This will allow you to have an accurate estimate for repairs.

My car is running hot, what could be the problem?
ANSWER : There could be an issue with the cylinder head gaskets. Antifreeze can break down and become acidic if not replaced as normal maintenance. The head gasket material erodes and can cause engine compression to build up in the coolant system. This will prevent the flow of coolant which can create an overheating condition.

There is a test that can be done to check whether there is carbon monoxide in the coolant system; it involves special equipment.

I recommend having your overheating condition inspected, and perhaps have a block test performed.

f250 5.4 v8 automatic 4×4. It spit a spark plug in a cylinder and still runs just misses. Shop is asking 4500. What damage can it cause and how much to fix it?
ANSWER : If the spark plug is spitting out, then the threads in the cylinder head or on the spark plug have been stripped out. Check the spark plug if you still have it and see if its stripped. If the plug is stripped, then replace the spark plug. If the plug is not stripped, then check the cylinder with a light and a extender mirror. Look to see if the threads are damaged. If the cylinder head threads are damaged, you can try cleaning it with a tap, but the best solution is to replace the head. If you need further assistance with your misfire, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

Car runs better if I unplug fuel injector 8 but makes a ticking noise and runs sluggish if it’s connected 2006 Ford Mustang
ANSWER : Hello – your symptoms suggest a failing injector . It appears to be leaking when it’s plugged in, as well as noisy. Check for problem codes relating to a rich mixture,, although it’s possible that the oxygen sensors for that bank of cylinders is leaning out the other 3 on that side. This would create rough running for sure. That would explain the popping (probably backfiring or misfiring at least on the lean cylinders). I recommend a misfiring inspection performed by a mobile, professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, who will come to your location, diagnose this problem, and give you an accurate assessment of damage and cost estimate for repairs.

After sitting without running for a long while, sometimes in-tank electric fuel pumps won’t start.
ANSWER : Check the power supply to the fuel pump, at the fuel pump terminals (as close as you can get) to be sure that the circuit actually functions. If there is power to the pump, but no operation, it is possible the fuel has oxidized, turned to varnish and other compounds, and basically glued the pump "shut". Also, it is not just a matter of air in the tank (oxidizing the fuel) but also moisture in the tank. Over so many years, the pump could be sitting in water simply due to accumulated water from condensation. If the tank has lots of water at the bottom, if it is a metal tank you might even need a new tank due to the possibility of internal corrosion. Although I suppose you could figure out a way to "unstick" a fuel pump that has sat in oxidizing fuel, and possibly water, for so many years, it is not worth it on account of safety and reliability considerations. If there is power and the pump doesn’t work, I would install a brand new pump and of course very carefully inspect the interior of the tank being mindful not to blow it up. Use a low power LED light…don’t use a 120 volt trouble light around fuel or, much worse, around fuel vapors. If you desire that the pump be replaced by a certified mechanic and the tank be inspected, simply request a fuel pump replacement.
