clutch fluid (oil) run out.

I started up my car. When I try to put the reverse gear it didn't wanted to let me all thou I had the clutch all the way in. I try again and the gears didn't work even if I had the clutch in. I insteanly open my front Hood to check what was going on. I look at the clutch oil level and it didn't have not oil in it. My question is if I put the oil back in it would the clutch would work normally? Hope to hear back.
My car has a manual transmission.
Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
The empty clutch fluid reservoir means the clutch slave cylinder or master cylinder (or both) has failed. It happens due to wear and age.

The repair is to replace both the clutch slave cylinder and clutch master cylinder and then bleed the system. They take DOT3 brake fluid. If you just fill the reservoir and bleed it without replacing the worn parts the clutch may work for somewhere between 5 minutes and a few days.

Low clutch fluid can make shifting a struggle. Inadequate fluid levels will not allow the clutch to release properly. This can cause a loud grinding sound when you attempt to shift. It may be tempting to just top-off the clutch fluid, but that may not resolve the issue if there is a leak.
The fluid gets low anytime there is a leak in the system. You may need to have the clutch slave cylinder replaced. If the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder are both need replaced then it is a good idea to have both the clutch master and slave cylinders replaced together as a pair.
ghnl. Brake fluid (which is what is used in the clutch hydraulic system) will slowly evaporate.
Fill the reservoir up to the maximum marking if the reservoir has one — never go over the maximum line. It doesn`t have to be filled to the brim. If the tank is too full, the fluid could spill or otherwise flood your vehicle`s clutch system. Stop and clean spills right away as soon as you notice them.
Issues with the clutch

In fact, low transmission fluid levels will halt its moves and your clutch may even get stuck in an abnormal position.

Clutch slipping can also be caused by a low fluid level in the clutch system. To check this, you should look the fluid level in the master cylinder and refill it if necessary. Topping up the lubrication in your vehicle should be a regular occurrence and will extend the life of your vehicle.
This situation is usually a failure of either the clutch master or slave cylinder – they simply wear out. If you have any clutch fluid on the drivers side front carpet, the failure is the clutch master cylinder.
If you look at your owner`s manual, it may say that you only need to replace the car`s clutch fluid if your clutch transmission has an issue. However, technicians at Massey Yardley CDJR recommend changing it in some other situations as well. We suggest you change the fluid: Every two years.
Any time you open the hydraulic system you will need to bleed it to remove air pockets. Air pockets prevent the hydraulic system from functioning properly.
Common signs of a clutch fluid leak are difficulty shifting or grinding noises while shifting, clutch pedal staying close to the floor, and dirty or low clutch fluid.
Even though the clutch pedal is sturdy, it will still wear off or break at the pivot, pedal arm or your clutch. Driving a car with a faulty clutch can cause further damage to your gearbox, starter motor or shifter. It is important to resolve any damage spotted with your clutch.

If your clutch master cylinder leaks out brake fluid, you won`t have enough pressure to engage the clutch, and your vehicle will not be able to change gears.

lost all oil pressure, replaced the oil pump, low oil sensor, oil pressure sensor, oil pan gasket,
ANSWER : The fuel pump will not stay on if you loose oil pressure. This is why it is shutting off. The loss of oil pressure may be from bad crankshaft bearings or camshaft bearings. The engine oil pan should be removed and the oil pump needs to be checked to ensure that you put in the pick up tube seal to the pump and connected the pump to the block. Then remove at least one main bearing cap and inspect the bearings for excessive wear and crankshaft damage. If you need some help with this, consider YourMechanic, as a certified technician can help diagnose the issue with your oil pressure firsthand and help you fix it accordingly.

Oil consumption. Burning oil. Oil light turns up on idle.
ANSWER : Hi there, thanks for writing in. The valve stem seals are the most common cause of this on your engine. When they fail, it requires that the cylinder heads be removed and rebuilt to fix it. The piston rings can also cause this but they are not as common. Unfortunately there is not anything, not even heavier oil that will fix this. You will need to have the heads rebuilt.

How much to replace oil gaskets on a 1998 Dodge Dakota V8 Magnum 4WD
ANSWER : Hello – oil leaks can be simple – valve cover gasket drooling all over the plugs/coils/wires, etc. or sneaky. A leaky front crankshaft seal will slobber oil all over the bottom of the truck. A leaking rear main crankshaft seal, which can also occur with a blocked crankcase ventilation system, will also spray oil underneath, but not show as a drip in your driveway – pretty-much only occurs while driving. I recommend a oil leak inspection to first determine when the oil is leaking from, performed by a mobile, professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, who will come to your location, diagnose this problem, and give you an accurate assessment of damage and cost estimate for repairs.

2006 BMW oil filter gasket keeps breaking and oil leaks from oil filter. Oil leaks only after starting car in morning. PCV valve?
ANSWER : Hi There,
It sounds like you may need to replace the oil cap o-ring. If you haven’t done this before there are two O-rings to replace; a small green one on the base of the filter cap stem and the large black one that seals the filter cap (which seems to be the one you are having issues with). The large O-ring sits in a small square-shaped groove that is at the base of the oil filter cap. It is very easy to not properly seat the large O-ring because the threads for the oil cap are quite large and will accept the O-ring if you are not careful. I would suggest having a professional from YourMechanic come to your location to take a look at your vehicle.

Stop car check oil warning
ANSWER : This light will usually come on when one of two things are happening. Either the motor is in fact low on oil or the oil pressure sending unit is not working properly and may be producing a faulty reading. I would recommend first, to check the actual oil level in the motor by using the dipstick. Be sure the oil level reaches the "full" mark. If this registers as "full" then you likely have a faulty oil pressure sending unit. I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your location to take a look at your vehicle to determine what may be causing your low oil pressure light to come on.

Just noticed a huge oil leak trailing my car. It seems to be coming from below the engine. I recently had my oil changed a month
ANSWER : You might have a problem with the oil filter leaking when you rev the engine and increase the oil pressure. This can be from a collapsed oil filter media or excessive oil pressure from the engine. I recommend having the oil and filter replaced using a good quality filter and have the oil leak verified to be from the filter. Make sure to not run the engine low on oil. If you are finding you do not want to drive with the leak, a mobile technician from YourMechanic can come to your home or office, and replace both your filter, and oil.
