Check Engine Light does not come on even though there are trouble codes present

I'm having a lot of performance issues with my Sable and there's no check engine light coming on but I've had the codes pulled and all kinds of different codes come up I figured out that it is the ECU and I was wondering how to find the wire that goes to the check engine light

My car has 143000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

Whether you experience performance problems or not, a flashing CEL indicates that an engine misfire has occurred. When this happens you should pull off the road and not drive the vehicle as this will damage the Catalytic Converter, which can cost over $1000 to replace.
The most common reasons a Mercury Sable has a check engine light are an emissions system component, a sensor, or a catalytic converter.
ECU fault codes, also known as diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) are part of the on-board diagnostic (OBD II) system in your car. These codes provide information on which systems are malfunctioning, where the problem is located, and the exact issue that is causing your check engine light to remain illuminated.
While the check engine light can definitely be indicative of serious problems, the most common cause of the flashing is usually an engine misfire. There are many reasons why an engine misfire might be occurring. To run smoothly, an engine must be receiving the correct amount of power from the cylinders in your vehicle.
A flashing check engine light indicates a much more serious issue. Most often it means that the engine is misfiring and unburned fuel is getting into the exhaust system. This raises the temperature of the catalytic converter and can cause critical damage.
If the check engine light illuminates, it will either blink or remain constantly illuminated, depending on the problem. A blinking light, or in some cars a red light instead of a yellow or orange light, indicates a problem that needs immediate attention. Either way, you should have the vehicle checked by a mechanic.
One of the engine issues that can cause the check engine light to come on or flash is a dirty or malfunctioning fuel injector. This light can indicate an issue within the fuel injection system or GDI System.
Oxygen sensors are a common cause of “check engine” lights. This sensor is located in the emission control system of your car, and is standard on all vehicles manufactured after 1980. The oxygen sensors are used to ensure that your engine is burning the correct amount of fuel, and running at peak performance.
What is a DTC? Diagnostic Trouble Codes, also known as engine fault codes, are five-digit codes that identify a particular problem in the car. These codes are displayed on the scanning tool when it`s connected to the OBD system. The five-digit DTC includes one letter usually followed by four numbers (e.g. P1234).
You can use a bench test setup, which simulates the car`s electrical system and sensors, to connect your ECU and check its operation. You can also use a software tool, such as an ECU simulator or a diagnostic scanner, to communicate with your ECU and monitor its parameters, codes, and outputs.
A failed O2 sensor is the most common cause of a flashing check engine light. The O2 sensor is a critical part of the exhaust system, monitoring how much unburned oxygen is exiting the engine in the exhaust. The sensor sends messages back to the engine to adjust the mix of oxygen and fuel being used.
Low oil pressure is a common cause of a check engine light turning on, and it can seriously interfere with your car`s performance. Usually, if this is the case, your oil light will also appear.
In some cars, a yellow check engine light means there is a problem that needs to be investigated and a red or flashing light means there is a serious problem and you need to stop right away. Your gauges will help you to determine problems like overheating and low oil pressure.
A steady check engine light indicates a non-emergency issue, such as a loose gas cap. Flashing check engine lights warn of severe situations requiring immediate attention. Standardized diagnostic codes help identify the trouble.
A check engine light on your dashboard can actually come on when there is nothing mechanically wrong with your car and can simply be a false alarm. Most cars made after 2000 have an array of sensors that monitor certain systems and they simply send out a signal that everything is fine.
The most common fault codes associated with a clogged fuel injector are P0171 and P0174, which indicates the engine controller is seeing a lean condition. It is also possible to see fault codes for a rich condition if the injector is leaking or not atomizing correctly.
You can try a fuel injector cleaner or flushing the system both available here at Presley`s Service Centre and it may just turn off your Check Engine light.
If the NOX sensor fails, the engine computer will register a fault and the engine starts stalling slightly. The check engine light will also come on.
There are thousands of possible diagnostic codes possible, some that are specific to a manufacturer or particular vehicle, and many that are generic across all vehicles.
Press the odometer`s Trip and Reset buttons while turning the ignition key ON. After turning the key ON, release the odometer Reset and Trip buttons to check if the Diagnostic Trouble Code or DTC appears on the odometer display.
P0162: O2 sensor circuit malfunction (bank 2, sensor 3)
Like desktop computers and most other electronics, disconnecting the battery cable for a short period will not fully reset your ECU due to the residual power remaining in the circuits.
ECU fault codes are displayed in PCLink in the ECU Status runtime values. They may also be displayed on a Check Engine Light or a digital dashboard display. Fault codes can be cleared by selecting Clear Fault Codes in the ECU Controls drop down menu.
A steady check engine light indicates a non-emergency issue, such as a loose gas cap. Flashing check engine lights warn of severe situations requiring immediate attention. Standardized diagnostic codes help identify the trouble.

P2196 OBD-II Trouble Code. came and went in 24 hours. 4 starts.
ANSWER : If the mechanic tested the output (functioning) of the oxygen sensor, especially according to the protocol at this link and found that the sensor was non functioning at that time, what you might be experiencing is a "failing" oxygen sensor and so the latest instance of Code P2196 might be explained by that. A complexity though is Code P2196 has many causes other than a failing oxygen sensor including: a faulty fuel pressure regulator; MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor; ECT(Engine Coolant Temperature) sensor or damaged ECT wiring; leaking or stuck open fuel injector or injectors; and spark plugs and/or coil pack. Basically, if the Code (P2196) recurs, the oxygen sensor output can be re-tested but the mechanic will hopefully be aware of all these other possible causes of that Code setting. If the Code recurs, you can request a check engine light diagnostic and a certified Mechanic, dispatched by YourMechanic right to your location, will get this resolved for you. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic as we are always here to help you.

Check Engine Light comes on after starting pickup
ANSWER : Hello there, thank you for asking about your 1992 Isuzu Pickup. A professional will have the correct equipment to read OBD1 codes. Retrieving the diagnostic trouble code(s) is the first place to start when diagnosing your vehicle. Increasing RPMs changes engine load, which can in turn affect many different sensors and components, causing the Check Engine Light to illuminate. The only way to narrow down the options and find the culprit is through in person diagnosis with an OEM compatible scan tool. A certified technician from YourMechanic can retrieve the OBD codes at your home or office.

Traction light/reduced engine power and check engine light coming on
ANSWER : Hello. From what you describe, it would appear that your vehicle may be experiencing some sort of intermittent wiring or sensor issue. If the problem occurred again after driving over a bump, then it may be possible that a damaged or loose wire is shorting or having contact issues. A common issue that can cause stalling is a faulty crank position sensor or wiring. I would carefully examine the engine for any loose or damaged wires. If the Check Engine Light comes back on, I would recommend having the trouble codes scanned before resetting the computer.

Why can’t my check engine light come on after starting the car?
ANSWER : Hi there:

It’s nearly impossible to tamper with the ECU to disable error codes without having multiple mechanical issues exist. However, it is possible that there is a communications issue from the ECU to the dashboard or other electrical monitoring systems. The best way to know for sure is to have a professional mobile mechanic complete an electrical problems inspection first.

p0011 code, check engine light one, changed bank 1 vvt solenoid and check engine light still on?
ANSWER : The P0011 code is typically caused by oil issues with the car. I would particularly make sure the engine oil level is not low. The VVT solenoid relies on proper oil levels to do their job. If they don’t have enough oil, they won’t work. You can have a mobile technician from YourMechanic visit your home or office to inspect the Check Engine Light for you. If you follow through with a repair with us you will be reimbursed for the cost of inspection.

I am not getting any power when I turn the key to the on position. there is no dash lights only check engine lite comes on.
ANSWER : The problem of having erratic electrical issues with this year Bronco they have problems with the ignition switch losing contact. You should check and replace the ignition switch. When the switch is removed you should check linkage rod and electrical connector for problems and repair as needed along with replace the ignition switch.

check engine light is not coming when engetion on even start the engone also oil level light continues workly how it solve?
ANSWER : Hi there. For the check engine light being on, check for any codes that could be stored in the computer as stored or pending. The codes will direct you to any issues that the vehicle may be having. If the oil light is on and the engine runs okay and is not hesitating, then the oil sending unit has lost communication with the computer (ECM). Look at the oil sending unit and see if the wires are broken or frayed. If the wiring is good, then the oil sending unit needs replaced.

If you need further assistance with your check engine light on, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

While driving on freeway truck goes into a limp mode, and the check engine light, abs light, parking break light, service brake
ANSWER : It is possible that you could be having an issue with your powertrain control module. This is somewhat of a common problem on many GM vehicles. I would recommend having your vehicle inspected by the dealership to determine if the powertrain control module is functioning properly. If not, a reflash of the powertrain control module may resolve the issue but often times it must be replaced.
