Car stalled while driving, now won’t restart.

This is a 7000 mile car that was running like new and just stalled shortly after driving away. It restarted once and ran fine for about 1/4 mile then stalled again and that was it. The car was towed to GM dealer. Result was good fuel pressure, spark, injector impulse. They said possibly injector issue or ecm. Wanted to take intake plenum off to check further starting at $350.00 and go from there. Claimed tech did not have proper scan equipment. I was not confident with their answer and thought this could get expensive and still have them searching. I had It towed home and here it sits and I do

With that being said, I recommend starting with the simple approach first, such as checking for bad fuel. Bad fuel can cause a variety of problems and will easily cause a car to not run or run intermittently as you describe. I would also recommend checking the fuel filter and lines as well, since it may have sat for a while.

Next, I would test each of the injectors to be sure they have the proper voltage going to them, since low voltage can cause injector pulse problems. If there is any issue with the injectors, be sure to trace the problem to the injector itself to rule out the possibility of the power coming from the ECU being weak.

Car died while driving so I replaced the alternator and battery and car won’t attempt to turn over. What else could it be?
ANSWER : The initial failure was likely caused by a sudden fuel system (e.g., failed fuel pump) or electrical (including ignition) faiure. Prior to performing diagnostics be sure you have a fully charged battery that passes a load test. Then, confirm that the engine immobilizer system (security system) is not activated thus preventing the car from starting. ANSWER : Hi there. Most of the time when you overheat this engine it will also cause the transmission to get too hot. When this occurs it can easily cause transmission failure. I would suspect this if the vehicle does not move at all. If it move but is severely lacking power then you either have some serious internal engine damage or a failure in the catalytic converter from the overheating. It sounds like it is the transmission though. I would recommend having a transmission specialist take a look at it.

Replaced alternator on car 2 times each time shows it’s charging 14v let car run for a little bit then test drive and car voltage
ANSWER : There are reports that the replacement alternators will not communicate with the engine computer and will not charge correctly. I recommend using only the manufacturer approved replacement part. It can be new or remanufactured but approved for use in the vehicle. Some lower cost alternators on the aftermarket will have charging problems since they will not communicate with the ECM on the vehicle and will stop charging.

After driving awhile, when idling, RPM drops below 500 & car stalls. Happens rarely but RPM fluctuates, and drops suddenly.

ANSWER : You should have the check engine light and engine scanned to see if the engine may be running lean due to low fuel pressures or clogged injectors. You should also have the mass airflow sensor cleaned and checked for proper readings and replace if not within specifications. The vehicle runs richer in colder weather and may be the reason for not stalling. You should clean injectors, clean throttle body and idle control valve then clean mass air sensor and relearn idle.

The engine stalls when I put the car in reverse, but if I go past reverse into drive there is not an issue.

The charging system on the car may not be charging the battery as you drive and the systems that keep the engine running are priority so the engine will stay running until the voltage drops below about 9 volts but the lighting and some other accessories may cut off above this voltage first.
