Car not slipping but not shifting properly

Okay so my car was throwing p0700 and p0720 and p1298 and the code for the speed sensor I replaced the sensor and it the speedo still didn't work, now the car keeps shifting weird it's not slipping but it's like a delay or power, the other day it sorta flooded and my belts were wet and I had no choice to drive threw this puddle then my belts started to make a noise and after that day it's been acting really weird I know cars but no codes are popping up nor do I have any idea what's going on for sure with my car, I've had my trans slip on me in another car before so I kn

Hi There,
These codes are normal when the system detects an issue with a speed sensor. Code P0700 also indicates that there may be another issue detected with the transmission control module. A faulty transmission control module may cause a delay in acceleration or erratic shifting of gears. The transmission control module has various sensors such as vehicle speed sensors, wheel speed sensors, throttle position sensors, turbine speed sensor, and transmission fluid temperature sensors that all direct information to it in order for it to perform it’s function. Other functions controlled by the TCM are components such as a kick down switch, traction control system, and cruise control module. Any of these may also affect the way the transmission control module performs and controls the transmission and the shifting of your vehicle. I would suggest having a professional from Your Mechanic come to your location to properly diagnose your transmission problem.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

There are several reasons why your Honda may hesitate during acceleration. The most common reason is a problem with the fuel system, such as a clogged fuel filter or faulty fuel injectors. Another possibility is an issue with the ignition system, such as spark plugs that need to be replaced.
Transmission Fluid Low or Poor Condition – Vehicles low on transmission fluid or that are operating with worn out or contaminated fluid are likely to experience hard shift conditions. Lack of adequate lubrication within the transmission can cause several problems, including hard shifting.
What is the fix for a slipping transmission? It`s simple. Just pop the hood of your vehicle, locate the transmission switch, and change the setting from “SLIP” to “STABLE” . . . If only it were that easy.
There are several causes for your car to lose power significantly while accelerating. The most typical causes of a car not accelerating while driving include a faulty sensor, contaminated fuel or air filters, or a faulty timing belt.
Trouble accelerating can come from a few different engine issues. These include, but are not limited to, dirty fuel injectors, low fuel pressure, and restricted airflow. A problem with the mass airflow sensor, throttle position sensor, or engine speed sensor can also cause a car to have difficulty picking up speed.
When you press down the accelerator pedal and get minimal output, it could mean you have a problem with your fuel system. The most probable issue is a clogged fuel filter. Your fuel filter works to ensure that dirt and debris do not get into the fuel system.
The Transmission Range Sensor tells the PCM the position of the transmission shifter. The PCM uses this information to control which gears of the transmission to enable or disable. When the TR sensor fails it can cause wrong gear starts, no upshifts, or what feels like a falling-out-of-gear condition.
Transmission Repairs

Often with a transmission repair, you are only fixing one specific part of the transmission. This repair can take place without having to rebuild the entire transmission. This option typically costs less than a rebuild or a replacement.

While not necessarily a sign of oncoming major transmission failure, slipping does indicate that your transmission is in serious need of service and repair. To leave it unchecked is to put both your vehicle and yourself, as well as other drivers and pedestrians, in danger.
Another way to look for transmission problems is to hold down the brake pedal with one foot while stepping on the gas pedal with the other foot so you can rev up the engine. Make sure the parking brake is on during this time, and don`t rev the car for longer than a few seconds.
When the transmission fluid isn`t clean or is blocked by a clogged filter, the internal components won`t have the lubrication they require to function properly. This could lead to shifting issues, grinding gears, slipping transmission or other common symptoms of transmission problems.
In short, if the cost to replace the gearbox isn`t too hefty, and the car is in reasonable condition and age, it`s probably worth fixing your gearbox.
Some transmissions can live over 10,000 miles, and others can last over 200,000 miles. Always keep in mind that routine maintenance plays a big role when it comes to the lifespan of your Honda transmission.

Car shifts hard and rpms rev high on there own or car doesn’t shift at all, ABS and traction control lights are on also. 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt
ANSWER : Hi there – first task is to be sure the transmission fluid is at the proper level, and in good condition (more pink than black, and no burned smell). Low fluid, or dirty fluid, can cause lots of unexpected transmission behavior. The second task is to check for problem codes, whether the Check Engine light is illuminated or not. The possible problem we’re looking for here is a failing throttle position sensor – which interacts with the transmission controller and affects shifting behavior. I recommend a transmission inspection performed by a mobile, professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, who will come to your location, diagnose this problem, and give you an accurate assessment of damage and cost estimate for repairs.

When shifting into 1st gear and attempting to take off, car shakes and then stalls. Car also won’t let me shift into reverse.
ANSWER : Hi there. Either the shifter rail is damaged inside the transmission keeping the gears from going into reverse and the first gear from connecting all the way, or the transmission first and reverse gears are damaged causing the transmission to have a hesitation on the forward 1st gear and no reverse. I recommend seeking out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you diagnose your transmission shifting issue.

Unable to shift while the car is running. Able to shift when the car is off
ANSWER : Hello. Your clutch hydraulics have possibly failed as you suspected. Given the suddenness of the failure, however, it is possible that something as simple as the clutch linkage above your foot has failed in some simple fashion, or possibly the clutch linkage in the clutch area itself (if there is no fluid leakage). If there is fluid leakage under the engine, quite likely the clutch slave cylinder has failed, which requires removal of the engine or the transmission to fix. I would recommend having an expert inspect the clutch and pinpoint any needed repairs.

I put the wrong key in my car and a few weeks later my car just shut down and it will not start I believe it’s the computer but…
ANSWER : Hi there. What had happened is the wrong key set the security to the vehicle. This is to prevent the vehicle from starting with the wrong keys. Try removing the battery cables (+) and (-) for 13 minutes. During that time, put the original key in the ignition and turn it on. Activate everything in the car even though there is no power. Then remove the key and hook up the battery cables. The computer should have reset and reset the security. If the security is still being tripped, then I recommend seeking out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you

I have a Mitsubishi 660cc mini pajero duke version automatic gears. My cars gears is jerking and not shifting properly especially drive.
ANSWER : Hi there. First check the transmission fluid level and make sure it’s full and red in color. If the fluid is normal and red in color, then there can be an issue within the transmission not engaging the clutch packs within the transmission. I recommend seeking out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you determine what is going on within your transmission.

When car is shifted into drive car will not go forward when pressing gas it just rev the engine. But when shifted into reverse car
ANSWER : Hello, thank you for writing in. The color and condition of the transmission fluid should be a huge indicator. Low transmission fluid is one of the leading causes of issues with the transmission. You will want to start by refilling the transmission fluid, following manufacturer directions and specifications on the type and the amount of fluid. If this makes a difference, then you know the lack of good hydraulic fluid in the system was the immediate cause of your problems. This does not always mean that the transmission is not having other issues, as burnt fluid is not a good sign in a vehicle that is only 6 years old. Burnt fluid can also be a sign of how hard the vehicle is being driven. If filling the transmission with fresh fluid does not solve the issue, then the transmission needs to be inspected by a transmission specialist. Unless properly trained, automatic transmissions are incredibly difficult to work on at home.

Replaced alternator on car 2 times each time shows it’s charging 14v let car run for a little bit then test drive and car voltage
ANSWER : There are reports that the replacement alternators will not communicate with the engine computer and will not charge correctly. I recommend using only the manufacturer approved replacement part. It can be new or remanufactured but approved for use in the vehicle. Some lower cost alternators on the aftermarket will have charging problems since they will not communicate with the ECM on the vehicle and will stop charging.
