Car cannot move, loud noise
Yesterday I was driving my car and attempted to park it. Suddenly, there were loud sounds at the left side. Also, my tire felt as if it was falling off. Now the car won't move. If I try to move it by applying the gas pedal, there is only loud noise and the car is motionless. Do you have any idea what happened here?

Hello. We will be very happy to assist you with your 2005 BMW 330xi. Your description sounds like that of a broken ball joint or constant velocity axle. Especially being that the wheel had a feeling like it was about to fall off leads me to be even more skeptical of a faulty ball joint or CV axle. I suggest that you have the condition of those two components checked thoroughly. If you want to have this looked at for you, a certified technician from YourMechanic can diagnose your vehicle and determine why the car will not move.
How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

Loud squeaking or squealing noise while accelerating could mean there`s a problem with your engine belt. It could mean the belt`s loose or worn. Or it could mean that one of the belt`s pulleys is starting to fail. Loud rumbling noise when accelerating might suggest there`s a problem with your exhaust system.
If your BMW makes noise when accelerating, the most likely cause is a worn drive belt or pulley bearing. In most cases, you will hear a squeaking noise, which eventually goes away as the engine warms up.
An engine has a lot of moving parts, and a car making loud noise when accelerating could indicate engine problems. For instance, worn valves can make a clicking noise that`s more noticeable the faster a vehicle moves. Bearings, which let the cam and crankshaft spin, can also be noisy when they start to fail.
If your exhaust pipe is loose, it can cause your car to make a helicopter-like sound. This is the problem with the mounts or brackets holding the exhaust pipe. You`ll need to have a mechanic take a look at this and tighten or replace the mounts.
If your car is not accelerating properly, check the air filter. The air filter traps dirt, debris and other impurities to keep them from entering the combustion chamber. A clogged air filter starves an engine of much-needed air, skewing the air/fuel mixture that affects acceleration.
Sometimes the loud engine sounds you hear aren`t due to the engine having a problem at all. Instead, it could be caused by a damaged or failing muffler. If it just seems like your car is running louder than it used to, but there aren`t other strange sounds, it might be due to a damaged muffler.
If your car`s engine is misfiring, it can produce a sound similar to that of a lawn mower. This happens when the fuel and air mixture in the engine is not being ignited properly, resulting in a rough-running engine. If this is left unchecked, it could lead to further engine damage and reduced performance.
The drive belt is what drives various components such as the alternator and power steering system. If the drive belt becomes loose, it will produce a loud whining or squealing noise as you drive. Loose drive belts should be tightened as soon as possible.

When I step on the gas pedal the car doesn’t move right away and there’s a loud noise coming from the hood. What’s wrong with the car?
ANSWER : Hi there. There could be lots of things that would make noises as the vehicle is trying to move. The most common could be the transmission making a noise. If the transmission is making the noise, then it could be slipping or the torque converter bolts could have come loose. The slipping would be more likely for the vehicle hesitates to move when demanded throttle. Check the level of the transmission fluid and make sure that it is full. You may have to change the transmission oil and filter. If you need further assistance with the noises and vehicle not moving right away when pushing on the gas pedal, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.
Oil leaking from under car and "remote control car" sound when car is first started for a few minutes until it warm up.
ANSWER : Hello,
There are a number of things that could make an engine noisy when starting up. Depending on the specific type of sound you are referring to, this will determine how to properly diagnose. If there is a bit of a hissing sound, this may be a sign of a vacuum leak. If this is more of a shrieking sound, this may be a sign of a worn out or out of adjustment serpentine belt. If there is a bit of a howling or growling sound, this may be a sign of a worn out or low on fluid power steering pump. A rattling or pinging sound may be caused by an ignition problem. An engine can ping (or knock) due to an improper combustion process. A "spark knock" is the result of combustion occurring too early. Early combustion can occur from carbon buildup inside the combustion chamber, a lean air/fuel mixture, and advanced ignition timing (spark plug firing too soon). A clattering type sound may be a result of improper lubrication in the valve train which could be a more serious problem and should be addressed as soon as possible. I would suggest having an expert from YourMechanic come to your location to diagnose and inspect your vehicle to ensure everything is in proper working order.
Car won’t move. I can start the car but when I put the shifter in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, ect. The car will not move.
ANSWER : The transaxle is not engaging internally to the axle shafts inside the transaxle or you have one or both axle shafts disengaged from the transaxle. The fact that the speedometer moves when gear is engaged and clutch is released shows the speed sensor in the transaxle is getting turned.
You will need to have the vehicle raised and the axles inspected for broke or stripped shafts. If the axles do not have anything visually wrong with them then hold one wheel and try to turn the other wheel while transaxle is in gear, with engine off, to see if the wheels are locked together. When you spin one wheel the other wheel should turn in the opposite direction. If it does not then the problem is in the transaxle differential gears and the transaxle would need to be removed and disassembled to find the broken internal components.

Was driving then car would not move found 2 silver balls under car bearings i quess put it in gear and car will not move
ANSWER : If the balls are roughly 3/8th inch in diameter, they come from the CV joint at the end of the axle. The CV joint may be broken which would explain why the car won’t move. Replacing the axle is a straightforward, if mundane procedure, and so can be accomplished at your location on a mobile basis. To request axle inspection, and installation of a new axle if indicated, please use YourMechanic’s CV axle service page and the responding certified mechanic will get this taken care of for you. Please note that when an axle is replaced, best practice is to replace the transmission output seal because the old seal, if left in place, will commonly leak as it is disturbed during removal and replacement of the axle. Inasmuch as the seal is a rubber product, it has a decidedly finite lifetime. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic as we are always here to help you.
A large clunking noise is coming from the front left of my car anytime I start my car, and anytime I go over a pothole/speedbump
ANSWER : Hi, thanks for writing in. If simply starting your car causes a clunk, then you may have another damaged motor or transmission mount (there are 4 total). You should replace all 4 mounts. When one mount fails, it allows excess motion of the engine/transmission, damaging the other mounts as well. It is false economy, generally speaking, with the age and mileage of your Honda, to do them one at a time. If you would like help with these replacements, consider having an expert automotive technician from YourMechanic come to your home or office to perform the engine mount replacements for you.
The car makes loud shaking/jarring noise when the steering wheel is only slight turned rightward. There is no noise when turning left.
ANSWER : Hi there. From the description you have provided, the noise you are hearing from the rear of the vehicle and the feeling your vehicle has while driving, should be looked at sooner than later. The swaying (fish-tail) action, could be a broken sway bar. It could also be a broken shock absorber. These are safety concerns that you’ll want to have addressed soon. I recommend having your vehicle’s noise inspected and repaired by a certified technician, like one from YourMechanic.
My Car drives forward not backwards. In N and R rolles forward, but will not roll back. Have to lift front to move the car beck.
ANSWER : Hi there. Make sure the vehicle is on level ground with the engine warmed up when checking transmission fluid. Check the fluid for color, smell, and contamination as these could be telltale signs of what is occurring inside the transmission. It does sound like there is a shift solenoid that is not activating; this could be the 1-2 shift solenoid or the low/reverse solenoid depending on how many are in your particular transmission. These are simply valves that control the flow of hydraulic fluid used by the transmission control computer to determine the gear selection for the transmission. These solenoids can be manually activated in the same way you have described by selecting D1, D2, and so on. Since there was no change in the transmission operation when you selected D1, this could be a solenoid or electrical circuit fault. The solenoid could be mechanically broken/stuck or there could be an open circuit in the solenoid or the electrical circuit itself. Properly testing this system and components should be performed by a qualified technician and I strongly urge you utilize one for this inspection to avoid replacing unnecessary parts.
