Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
The purpose of the SES light is to alert you that there is a malfunction in the engine or powertrain. When the SES light turns on, you can attach a code scanner to the vehicle’s OBD-II port under the steering wheel and then the trouble codes that have caused the SES light to illuminate can be downloaded and interpreted. Then a diagnostic has to be be performed to find the root cause of the malfunction. The trouble codes provide clues only; individual parts referred to in the codes have to be separately tested in order to ensure that ONLY failed parts are replaced. Although a code scanner can turn the SES light off, the scanner can’t do so permanently and so in your circumstance the SES light will turn right back on again, usually immediately, unless the underlying fault in the engine is corrected.

When the SES light is on, vehicle efficiency may be sub optimal and some faults can cause damage to various engine systems and associated parts such as the catalytic converter. The best thing to do whenever the SES light comes on is request a SES/Check Engine Light diagnostic. If you request that service, the responding certified mechanic will come to your location, download the trouble codes, run the necessary tests and let you know exactly what has failed and why. If you authorize the indicated repairs, the mechanic will perform that as well, again right at your location. Once all necessary repairs are complete, the SES light should stay off, at least so long as no new malfunctions crop up. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic as we are always here to help you.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

The purpose of the service engine soon light is to alert drivers that the car`s sensors have detected some sort of malfunction. These sensors are often triggered by issues with the emission control system of the vehicle, but there can be a variety of different causes.
SES (Service Engine Soon) Light.
When the light comes on, a code is stored as the reason for triggering the light. When you take your car in to get it checked out, the mechanic hooks up a little diagnostic computer to your vehicle`s computer. They will then get a code and description that tells them what the issue is.
You can still drive if the ESC light is illuminated on your dashboard, but you should take necessary precautions like slowing down the car, avoiding slippery roads, practicing safe driving habits, etc. You should also understand why the ESC light is on — your owner`s manual can tell you more.
For instance, low SES in childhood is related to poor cognitive development, language, memory, socioemotional processing, and consequently poor income and health in adulthood.
Socioeconomic status is usually described as low, medium, and high. People with a lower socioeconomic status usually have less access to financial, educational, social, and health resources than those with a higher socioeconomic status.
The reasons for a check engine light turning on can range from something minor like a loose gas cap to something more serious like a faulty catalytic converter. It could even be a sign of internal engine failure. Ignoring the problem can turn a potentially quick fix into a costly and time-consuming repair.
The emissions/exhaust system is the most likely culprit for many check engine lights being illuminated. There could be an exhaust leak or a problem with the catalytic converter. The mass airflow sensor (MAF) is another sensor that is easily tripped or can fail.
The Light Stays On

If you`re experiencing this, don`t panic. You may think that there is still a problem with the car after the repair, but it`s because the light needs time to reset. The car`s internal computer only resets after a set period where it checks all of its sensors once more.

The center of the ESC system is also the center of the car: the yaw control sensor. It`s almost always located as close to the very center of the car as possible. If you were sitting in the driver`s seat, the yaw control sensor would be under your right elbow, somewhere between you and the passenger.
To turn off the traction control function and the brake control function of the ESC, press the ESC OFF button (ESC OFF ) for more than 3 seconds. ESC OFF indicator light (ESC OFF ) will illuminate and ESC OFF warning chime will sound. At this state, the car stability control function does not operate any more.
Low SES usually refers to individuals with low educational achievement and/or low household income. These factors can form into additional everyday stresses for individuals, ultimately leading to risk behaviors, such as tobacco use.
When your account is in the Amazon SES sandbox, you can only send 200 messages per 24-hour period, and your maximum sending rate is one message per second. When you submit a request to have your account removed from the sandbox, you can also request that your quotas are increased at the same time.
Socioeconomic status is the position of an individual or group on the socioeconomic scale, which is determined by a combination of social and economic factors such as income, amount and kind of education, type and prestige of occupation, place of residence, and—in some societies or parts of society—ethnic origin or

How long can you drive with the check engine light on? Once you see the check engine light, it is safe to drive with the light on for 50 to 100 miles. This is because if the issue is with the sensors, then this will buy some time for it to reset, turning the check engine light off.
Broadly, the APA describes SES as the social standing or class of an individual or group, often measured as a combination of education, income, and occupation (APA, 2007).
Individuals with high SES ratings are likely to work in prestigious positions, such as in medicine or law; have higher salaries; and have more advanced education. These individuals have greater access to resources that can contribute to their success and to the perpetuation of similar benefits for their families.
It is possible that your automobile`s check engine light has come on because of a false alarm. This being said, if the engine control module (ECM) turned on the check engine light for no reason, the ECM could be malfunctioning itself. This crucial part is the heart of your automobile.
Check your gas cap first. Many vehicles have a loose gas cap indicator that will be triggered before your check engine light comes on. If your gas cap is loose or the seal is not tight, the vapor leakage can cause your fuel system to trigger the check engine light.
Yes a fuse that controls an emissions device can be blown and cause a check engine light.
Oil filter that has become saturated with dirt not only holds the motor oil but also deteriorates its lubrication properties causing increased friction among the moving parts which is another reason why the engine might heat up during normal drives. It may cause the check engine light to come on.
So why is the light still on? Here`s something you probably don`t know: after clearing the car`s computer you will need to drive for about 50 to 100 miles. As you drive your car the computer will monitor all the sensors and register the results.

Okay so when I turn my lights on at night my brake lights do not work, when I don’t have my lights on they work fine.
ANSWER : Hi there. Based on your inquiry, it’s highly probable that you have a damaged light switch or some electrical fault inside the turn signal relay. However, it’s also possible that the brake switch above the brake pedal could also be the source of your problem. Due to the fact that multiple electrical components might be causing this issue, it’s a smart idea to first have a professional mobile mechanic complete a brake lights are not working inspection, so they can determine what’s causing all of these issues and recommend the right repairs.

Battery light goes on when I start car then turns off, if I rev engine light comes back until rpms go down. Abs goes comes on/off
ANSWER : Batteries can die due to faults in the charging system so ideally a suspected "faulty" battery should be load tested before a decision is made to condemn it. The only exception to this rule is if the battery is already clearly "old" (greater than 5 years) but even then once you put a new battery in, as a replacement for a "dead" battery, you have to comprehensively check out the charging system. Diagnostic Trouble Code P0460 will result in disruption of the dashboard fuel gauge’s ability to accurately report your tank’s fuel levels. The fuel gauge readings may be erratic, or read somewhere off scale. Vehicles equipped with a low fuel warning light feature may also suffer from erratic low fuel warnings in the event of a code P0460. Unless the P0460 code has been reported alongside other trouble code, all of the vehicle’s essential systems should otherwise function normally. I would recommend that you request a check engine light diagnostic to first resolve the fault causing the P0460 code to set. The check gas cap light warning light could be due a faulty gas cap and/or small leaks in the EVAP system.

Abs light, emergency brake light, steering wheel assist light, engine light, EPC light, traction control light
ANSWER : Hello, thank you for writing in. The vehicle does utilize a lot of the same sensors for these systems. Are there any other codes that are coming up when this code appears? If so you will want to take these into consideration when processing the repair and making a diagnosis. The module may be bad, and replacing it should fix the problem. The lights should turn off once the main computer recognizes the new module and the sensors sync up. If you believe the sensors need to be cleaned you may do so. Do as minimal as possible to make sure you are not damaging the sensor or disrupting the wiring inside. A bad connection would make the lights stay on. With so many lights that are effected by the module being illuminated, the module is likely bad or does not have a connection. Check the connection first and then resort to replacing the unit.
