Alarm

Car is not turning on. All lights, and icons turn on when key is turned but does not turn on.
Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
You should first make sure you are using a good code key and if you have a second key then try it first before continuing. The key should turn the key to the on position to see if the theft light comes on and then goes off indicating the theft system has been deactivated. If the light that is for theft stays on with the key in the on position then you should try the second key to see if system still is active. If system is still active then you will need to have the theft system scanned using a factory type scanner to get codes for faults in the theft system and then pinpoint test the code or codes received.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

The system arms when you lock your vehicle. When armed, the alarm is triggered in any of the following ways: If someone opens a door, the liftgate or the hood without a valid key or remote control. If you switch your vehicle on without a correctly coded key.
You typically will not need to do anything to reset your car alarm after a battery change, but it should automatically reset for you. Some vehicles or alarm systems may require you to push a reset button on the alarm box that may be located near the steering wheel.
There are some cars that will recognize the key from you simply turning it back and forth in the door`s cylinder. It is best to try both methods: holding the key in the door, as well as turning the key both ways to disable the anti-theft system.
Check the door lock

In some cases, the car`s anti-theft system is linked to a door lock mechanism. To disable it, you need to locate a small switch or release lever on the door panel and engage it. This will cause the car`s security system to be disabled.

If all else fails, a great way to shut off your car alarm is to starve it of power by disconnecting the battery. One simple way of doing this is to remove the negative (black) battery connector from battery.
A factory-installed alarm will have a fuse in the fuse box; pull the fuse to cut the circuit and shut down the alarm. Look for the fuse box on the left hand side of the steering column. Fuse boxes usually have a fuse diagram on the lid of the fuse box. Most alarm fuses have an alarm label on them.
Put the key in the ignition and rotate forward two clicks to the “On” position that makes the dashboard light up, but don`t try starting the car. Leave the key there for 15 minutes; it doesn`t always take that long, but it can. After that time, check to see if the anti-theft light has gone out, if one was lit up.
If your ECU controls the anti-theft system, disconnecting the battery may lock you out of your car. Like desktop computers and most other electronics, disconnecting the battery cable for a short period will not fully reset your ECU due to the residual power remaining in the circuits.
However, there are a few things you may do if you`re wondering how to stop the anti-theft mechanism without a key. One common method is to press and hold the “unlock” button on the car door for around 10 seconds; this should turn off the security system.
Anti-theft systems protect valuables such as vehicles and personal property like wallets, phones, and jewelry. They are also used in retail settings to protect merchandise in the form of security tags and labels. Anti-theft systems include devices such as locks and keys, RFID tags, and GPS locators.
Placing the key inside the keyhole

You can bypass the immobilizer by placing the key in the keyhole hence deactivating the car`s immobilizer to remote start.

Remove The Alarm`s Fuse

The exact location of the fuse can differ from model to model. But it`s generally beneath the hood of your car. Check your owner`s manual and look for a picture or a diagram indicating the location of the alarm`s fuse box. Take a pair of pliers and use them to remove the appropriate fuse.

Locate the fuse box containing the alarm fuse. It is usually located on the dashboard by the driver`s door, in front of your left knee. You may find the alarm fuse in this fuse box. If you do not find an alarm fuse inside of the car, look in the fuse box under the hood on the driver`s side.
You can remove an alarm sensor from your door by deleting the zone from the system and taking the sensor and its magnet off the door. Wired door sensors will require you to disconnect the wires from the sensor and remove them from the wall. The complete process is actually very easy.
A car`s anti-theft system may activate if your key fob battery is dead and hasn`t disabled the system. Make sure the battery is installed correctly in your key fob. If the battery is correctly installed, replace it with a fresh battery and try again. Step 2: Check your door lock cylinder.
It can be difficult to manually turn off your car`s anti-theft system if you don`t have a key fob, but it is achievable. If there are no obvious little buttons or levers on the ignition cylinder that could disarm the device, try gently wiggling the key inside the cylinder; this might be enough to do it.

In a keyless entry car, can you also have an alarm say auto watch alarm system installed?
ANSWER : Hello. From what you describe it would appear that the aftermarket alarm system may be having an issue. If the alarm has done this since it was installed then it may be possible that it is wired improperly, or that there is an issue with the alarm system control module. It may be possible that the two alarm systems are interfering with each other somehow, perhaps due to an issue with the transponders or remotes. I would recommend referring to the alarm system manufacturer, or the shop or technician that installed the alarm for more specific support or instructions.

Car alarm is going off when using clicker to unlock the car
ANSWER : The content theft deterrent (CTD) alarm will sound when either the door is opened without using the key to unlock the driver’s door, or when the door is unlocked without using the unlock command from the keyless entry transmitter. My guess is that, for some reason, the control module is not recognizing your key fob. Instead of locking your doors with the remote, try locking them manually. This should solve your problem. You can also deactivate the CTD by doing the following:

Press either door lock switch.
Use the key to unlock the driver’s front door.
Press the unlock button of the transmitter.
Insert the key into the ignition and turn the vehicle on.

Of course, these are work arounds. For a permanent fix, I suggest you have a trained professional diagnose your initial starting issue and other causes to repair your vehicle.

Car won’t start. Alarm keeps going off (aftermarket alarm)
ANSWER : Hello. From what you describe, it would appear that your vehicle has experienced some sort of electrical issues. It may be possible that the alarm system has been set off or has perhaps malfunctioned, and as a result is cutting off power to the vehicle. If the alarm is an aftermarket one, I would try to determine what model or type it may be to see if instructions can be located, perhaps on the manufacturer’s website.

I would also take a close look at the battery, especially if there are no lights or power coming on. There can certainly be cases where the alarm system, or even another system on the vehicle, experience a wiring issue, such as a short to ground, which can drain the battery. I would check to see if the battery is charged, and from there proceed to the vehicle’s fuses and relays, and then the alarm system.

If you are not comfortable checking this, a certified technician, such as one from YourMechanic, can come to your location to properly diagnose the starting issue.

Problems with alarm
ANSWER : If you now have a key that fits the door you will have to hook up all the wires back to normal. After this is done, disconnect the battery and wait at least ten minutes. With all of the doors closed and locked, reconnect the battery. Unlock the driver’s door and see if the ignition turns and starts the vehicle. If the theft light is still flashing then try and unlock the drivers door to see if the alarm stops and the vehicle starts. If it now starts then the drivers key lock cylinder will need to be replaced.
