Abs module is no good. I have another one from junk yard with the same year and FWD and engine. Will it work?
Abs module crapped out its been checked out. I went to junkyd got one from a same yr same engine fwd car just the module will it work on my abs unit?
My car has 18900 miles.
Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
Hi there. As long as the ABS module is the same design and has the same ports on it then it will work just fine on your vehicle. Be sure to bleed all of the brake lines after replacing the module. If you need further assistance with your ABS module, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

Replacing an ABS module is a varied repair — on some vehicles, it can be very straightforward and simple while it is arduous and complicated on others. The complications can occur in the programming to the vehicle, the bleeding procedures, or the installation in cases where all the brake lines need to be removed.
A bad ABS module can behave erratically, making your brakes lock up even under normal braking. You might even notice unusual behavior from the brakes, like random clicking noises.

In order to operate, your ABS system needs electricity. This is controlled by the anti-lock fuses and relay. The first fuse (a 10 amp fuse) must be good in order for electricity to flow to the relay, and the relay must function to provide power to the second fuse (a 30 amp fuse).
Locking while braking – If the ECU stops working, the ABS system will not be able to function.
A failure in the anti-lock brake system (ABS) causes the ABS pump to continuously run, which will eventually wear down the battery.
The ABS control module is a microprocessor that runs diagnostic checks of a vehicle`s antilock braking system and processes information from wheel-speed sensors and the hydraulic brake system to determine when to release braking pressure at a wheel that`s about to lock up and start skidding.
Various ABS module brands and models have part numbers in different places, and there are often multiple numbers where they are located. ATE modules generally have part numbers on the module lids (either on the plastic itself or printed onto a white sticker), and printed onto stickers on the pump motor.
Epoxies are best known for their strength. In fact, they are the highest-strength adhesive you can use to bond your ABS plastic. You can get different variations of epoxies, and some can have strengths of over 30 Mpa. Epoxies also have a very high chemical and water resistance.
Corrosive-resistant – ABS is a plastic, so it does not run the risk of corrosion like a metal. The material is very tough and can avoid breakdown from a wide array of common chemicals.
Only soap and water should be used during ABS cleaning as the use of other chemicals such as chlorides, ketones and degreasers accelerates aging of the devices and give them a yellowish color. The cleaning should be done with with a soft cloth or paper in order to prevent scratches and brightness degradation.
All you have to do is connect the device to your OBD2 carport and run an ABS test. From there, you will have a clearly identified trouble code about what is wrong with the ABS. With this pinpointed information, you can easily diagnose and fix the issues with your vehicle.
Snow: As it turns out, ABS actually increases stopping distances on snowy surfaces, as well as those covered in other loose materials, such as gravel or sand. Without ABS, locked tires dig into the snow and form a wedge in front of the tire by pushing it forward.
ABS guarantee optimum brake performance in emergency situations, regardless of a driver`s skill. They become active once the car is going faster than about 5 miles per hour. Recent testing has shown that vehicles with ABS generally stop 10 to 15 percent faster than other vehicles.
When ABS is engaged, you can still manoeuvre around obstacles. Without ABS, when using maximum braking in a panic situation, you may lock your wheels and subsequently lose steering control.
If the ABS system is not functioning properly, then your vehicle is likely to skid, hydroplane and lose traction under heavy braking conditions. The last time you want to find this out is when you need it most in tough conditions, which could lead to an accident on the road.
The most common ABS problems occur when sensors become contaminated with debris or metal shavings. Malfunctions also occur when sensor wiring becomes damaged, resulting in intermittent or no continuity.
You can`t “bypass” an ABS sensor. You need to get the problem repaired. Then the light will go off ( usually by itself). If you want to disable the ABS system ,remove the fuse.
The national cost for abs control module replacement in 2023 is between $493 and $1391 with an average of $1030.
The ABS module is like most electronic components in your car – it can be damaged by impact, electrical overloads, or extreme temperatures. Under most conditions, though, the ABS module should last the life of your car.
An ABS fault will not effect engine performance. It will however, effect the anti-lock portion of your brakes.
In many cases, when there is a drop in electrical power in the vehicle, this may trigger the ABS light to come on as you have described in addition to causing the dash gauges to not work properly.
Unresponsive brake pedal: The brake pedal may stop working when your car`s ABS begins to fail. If you notice that you have to press the brake multiple times before it responds, bring your car to us to have your brake system examined.

Honda Civic 2008. AC stopped working suddenly and engine check light came ON for a day.Next day AC worked and no engine light.
ANSWER : Hi there. In both cases, when an AC system is not working and a warning light is coming on the dashboard, typically a professional mechanic will complete the same initial inspection, which is to download the stored error codes that triggered the warning light initially. This tends to give them an idea as to what is causing the problems. This could be something as simple as an electrical relay that is faulty or loose or an indication of a computer related "glitch". Either way, the best way to move forward is to have a professional mobile mechanic complete a check engine light inspection.
Chrysler 300 2005 abs not working. Code c2116. Does this mean my abs pump is dead for sure? Or could it be abs sensors.
ANSWER : Hi there. Take a digital volt meter and check the voltage on the harness to the ABS control motor. There should be a battery voltage present. If the voltage is low, then there is a break in the wiring from the computer to the ABS control motor. If the voltage is normal, then the ABS control motor has a burned cell and the ABS controller assembly would need replaced. This will effect the ESP system as well and set off the lights. If you need further assistance with your ABS system not working, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.
Repaired ABS module installed, but lights on and not shifting properly
ANSWER : Hello. This can be caused by a few different things, but most of the time it is caused by the transmission speed sensors. I usually test the sensors first and replace them if needed. This is going to be the most likely issue. If they are fine, then you may have a circuit problem so the wiring will need to be tested for any breaks or shorts that would cause this. If you need to have this done, consider YourMechanic, as a certified mechanic can come to your home or office to inspect your shifting issue and diagnose the trouble codes found on your car.
Check Engine light on. Would the computer give all error codes in one shot? How do we know the engine’s condition?
ANSWER : Hi there. From the description you have provided, I’m am inclined to agree with your assessment of a used engine being installed in your vehicle. An inspection of the engine, by a qualified technician could determine whether the engine is sound. The Check Engine Light on and having a TPS (throttle position sensor) code does not necessarily mean the sensor is at fault. Circuit tests should be performed to confirm the fault. The likelihood of the ECM (electronic control module/computer) giving you all the codes at once is remote. Other component failures could occur. Address those as they come up. Even though you already made the purchase, I recommend having your vehicle inspected by a certified technician so that you can get a thorough evaluation of the car’s true condition.
Check engine light is on for the catalytic converter , I fixed one about a year ago. Is there a part needed, Frontback? Which part
ANSWER : Since your vehicle has a V shaped engine, it will likely have two catalytic converters. Since the engine is mounted transversly in the vehicle (because it is front wheel drive) there will be one converter on the front and one on the rear. If you had one replaced, it is likely the issue is coming from the opposite converter. I would recommend having your exhaust system inspected by a qualified professional who has experience in exhaust system diagnosis and repair.
ABS light comes on when I start driving – 1994 Acura Vigor
ANSWER : There is the possibility of a deeper electrical problem like a broken wire or corrosion inside a wire that may be very difficult to pick up on. Have an automotive technician experienced in diagnosing electical bugs dig out the problem.
An inconsistent starter motor that occasionally works perfectly now will not work. Then engine will not crank at all.
ANSWER : Hi there. It is possible for the starter to fail. But before replacing the starter, make sure that the battery cables are tight and clean. Then check the starter relay and make sure that the relay is clicking. If the relay is not clicking, then check for power to the relay. If there is power to the relay but there is no click, then the starter relay would need to be replaced. If there is no power to the relay, then either the wiring from the relay to the ignition switch has a break in it or the ignition switch is failing. If there is power to the relay and power to the starter motor, then the starter motor needs replaced. If you need further assistance with your no start issue, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.
